Cindy Bishop is the President of Checkmate Strategies, a governmental and public relations firm headquartered in Baton Rouge. She is a registered lobbyist and the editor and publisher of Health Care Information Services. Cindy established Checkmate Strategies in 1995. She has worked on many high profile legislative campaigns including but not limited to the Smoke Free Air Act, the Primary Seat Belt Act, the Child Passenger Safety Act, the Concealed Carry Permit Act and Save Tony the Tiger. She began working in association management at the age of 19 when she was hired by the Louisiana Dental Association, a nonprofit professional association comprised of 1,700 licensed dentists. She is adept at all aspects of association management including board development, fiscal management, communications, membership recruitment and retention, public relations, grant administration and convention/meeting planning. Cindy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Loyola University of the South in New Orleans. She is a member of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, the Louisiana Association of Non-Profit Organizations and the Louisiana Society of Association Executives.
David Roberson serves as the Vice-President for Checkmate Strategies and has worked for Checkmate Strategies since 2003. A registered lobbyist, David is adept at policy development and building strategic alliances and partnerships. He is also skilled in all areas of association management. His forte is fiscal management and he assists with the development of budgets and handles fiscal matters for various clients of Checkmate Strategies. In May of 2007, David earned his Bachelors of Art degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from Louisiana State University. He is a member of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
Earl Willis serves as the Director of Business Development for Checkmate Strategies. A registered lobbyist, Earl Michael is adept a policy development and has lobbied the Louisiana Legislature on significant legislative issues. He is also skilled in the handling of association matters such as event planning, fundraising and communications. Earl is a senior at Louisiana State University and is a candidate for graduation in May 2015. He is an active member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and has served as Pledge Class President, Chaplain, Head of Judicial Board. He is a member of the Louisiana Association of Non-Profit Organizations.
Sarah Heath serves as the Director of Membership and Meeting Planning. She has worked for Checkmate Strategies since 2009. She is adept at all aspects of association management but her primary area of responsibility is membership recruitment and retention, website management, communications and meeting planning. Sarah is the backbone of the Checkmate Strategies operations team and is responsible for the day-to-day interaction with members. Sarah attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega and lives and works in Dahlonega. She has also completed training in grant acquisition and management. She is a member of the Louisiana Association of Non-Profit Organizations.
